The Workers Party of Bangladesh on Saturday at a rally in Dhaka renewed its call for scrapping the ‘unequal’ trade deal signed with the United States during the interim government tenure.
The party organised the rally, followed by a protest procession, on the premises of its central office on Topkhana Road with its acting president Mahmdul Hasan Manik in chair.
Acting general secretary of the party Nur Ahmed Bakul said that the ‘unilateral’ business deal overwhelmingly favoured the US interests, calling on the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-led government to hold parliamentary discussion paving the way to get rid of the agreement.
People of the country would not accept such an ‘unequal’ deal that will destroy Bangladesh’s economy, Nur Ahmed Bakul said.
Mahmudul Hasan Manik also urged all democratic political parties to forge unity and wage movement to compel the government to scrap the deal.
