Md Ramzan Ali Pramanik has been promoted as director general of Bangladesh Water Development Board. He joined his new duty on Wednesday.
Prior to the post, he was working additional director general (planning, design and research), said a press release.
Ramzan Ali graduated from the then BIT, Rajshahi in 1987 in civil engineering and received gold medal from prime minister Sheikh Hasina for securing 1st class 1st.
In 2004, on the scholarship of the Government of India, he obtained MS in Engineering (Hydrology) degree from IIT, Roorkee.
He joined the Bangladesh Water Development Board as assistant engineer in 1989. He worked for the Teesta Barrage Project, Rangpur; design, Khulna-Jesore Drainage Project, Muhuri Irrigation Project, Feni; Karnaphuli Irrigation Project, and Sunamganj, Haor region, and different field level offices.
He has also efficiently performed various important river bank conservation, irrigation, flood control and drainage projects of Bangladesh Water Development Board. He participated in various seminars and trainings in South Korea, Portugal, Vietnam and India during his 34 years of service in the board, said a press release.
Md Ramzan Ali Pramanik was born in 1964 in Raninagar upazila of Naogaon district. He is a life fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
