Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) last night arrested a passenger of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, who was carrying 1,000 yaba pills in his stomach.

Md Raju Mollah, 32, arrived in Dhaka on a Bangladesh Biman domestic flight from Cox's Bazar, said APBn officials.

Acting on a tip-off, the APBn team detained him from the northern side of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport' Balaka Bhaban and took him to their office, where he admitted of carrying yaba inside his stomach.

An X-ray at the airport medical unit revealed 20 oval-shaped objects in his abdomen. He was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital where doctors, under medical supervision, helped him expel the objects through the rectum."APBn confirmed that the 20 tape-wrapped capsules contained a total of 1,000 yaba tablets. Officials said Raju Mollah has a long history in drug trafficking."

A case has been filed against him with Airport Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
