A faction of Bangladesh Udichi Shipligoshthi on Sunday rejected the national committee by another faction formed on June 20, terming it as illegal as per their constitution.

A press release, issued by the faction led Jamshed Anwar Topon, said that 26 members did not attend the illegal conference but their names were included in the committee without their consent.

The release, signed by Iqbalul Haque Khan, the assistant general secretary of the faction on behalf of the 26 members, said that 46 district units did not attend the conference and 10 units out of 17 of Dhaka district were absent at the conference which showed that the members of the organisation rejected the conference.

According to the release, 386 representatives out of 566 were absent at the conference but the faction said that 285 representatives were present, which was totally false.

Another faction’s general secretary Amit Ranjan Dey said that they voted on the proposed name only at their ‘unfinished’ national conference and elected 87 members for the committee which did not need any permission.

They are discussing the issue of unification unofficially with all members and units, said Amit.

Earlier, Topon-led faction expelled its president Badiur Rahman and vice-president Mahmud Selim from the organisation alleging that they were involved in anti-organisational activities after the 23rd conference held in February.

Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi was founded by Satyen Sen and Ranesh Dash Gupta on October 29, 1968.

The organisation aims at raising awareness among people through cultural activities with their more than 300 units at home and aboard.

Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2013.
