A madrasa student was killed and three others injured in a road accident in the capital's Khilkhet area today.

The deceased is Sakib, 14, son of Sharif Mia, of Hasempur village of Narsingdi's Raipur.

Mohammad Faruq, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said the accident occurred around 5:00am on the 300-feet road near a foot overbridge near Khilkhet when a pickup truck carrying poultry lost control and ploughed through several pedestrians, leaving them severely injured.

The injured were taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared one of them dead.

Three others are receiving treatment for their injuries.

The body of the deceased was sent to the medical morgue for autopsy, said the policeman.
