The International Crimes Tribunal has received a complaint against Sheikh Hasina, Hasanul Haq Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, Anwar Hossain Manju, and 23 others in connection with the killing of a student in Mirpur during the civil uprising.

Advocate Md Asad Uddin submitted the complaint on behalf of the family of the deceased, Shahriar Hasan Alvi, at the tribunal’s investigation agency on Monday.

The petition also seeks an investigation into the alleged involvement of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations in the killing as a group, reports bdnews24.com.

Alvi, a student at Desh Polytechnic College, was reportedly killed in police gunfire on Aug 4.

According to Advocate Asad, Alvi was shot in the abdomen, with the bullet exiting through his back, leading to his death at the scene.

“We have requested an investigation under sections 3(2) and 4(1,2) of the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973,” said Asad.

The complaint also includes names such as Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former law minister Anisul Huq, and former prime ministerial advisor Salman F Rahman, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and former state minister for information and broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat.

In addition, Awami League leaders Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, and Tariqat Federation leader Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari have been named.

The complaint states around 500 unidentified members of the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League were involved in the incident.

Earlier, two other complaints against Hasina and several others had been submitted to the tribunal, with investigations already under way, according to officials.
