"As a people, we have a tendency to be enamoured with the present political realities and treat the past with utter disdain. Even worse, we want to rewrite it, thus overvaluing the present and throwing the past into the bin. That is why we don't learn from the past and repeat our mistakes," says Mahfuz Anam.
