Students of Dhaka College and Ideal College, long known for their clashes, yesterday reached an agreement to end violence and "foster brotherhood".
Frequent confrontations among students of Dhaka College, Ideal College, and Dhaka City College -- particularly in the Science Lab area -- have often caused traffic disruptions and public sufferings.
To address the issue, New Market Police Station Officer-in-Charge AKM Mahfuzul Haque organised a "Peace Agreement Ceremony" between the students of the colleges.
Students of Dhaka City College, however, did not participate, saying they have no conflict with other colleges, the OC told The Daily Star.
The event, held at Dhaka College Auditorium, was attended by over 200 students, along with principals and teachers from both institutions.
RS Shuvo Dhali, a student of Ideal College, said, "We are now brothers. We will not engage in fights anymore. We will focus on our studies and resolve any issue through discussion."
Dhaka College students echoed the sentiment, emphasising their commitment to maintaining harmony.
