India batter Ajinkya Rahane said Pakistan “does not have the guts” to pull out of the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka and India from February 7 to March 8.

“I don’t think they can do that. I don’t think they have the guts,” Rahane said on Cricbuzz.

Speaking at the same event as Rahane, Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle said Pakistan was just “making needless noise” over the issue and that they would “definitely participate” in the tournament.

Following a discussion with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Mohsin Naqvi said that a final call on Pakistan’s participation in the marquee T20 event will be made either tomorrow or next Monday.

Naqvi had earlier accused the International Cricket Council (ICC) of having “double standards” and said it had treated Bangladesh “unfairly” by excluding the team from the T20 World Cup.

The ICC replaced Bangladesh with Scotland for the mega T20 event after rejecting Bangladesh’s request to relocate their matches outside India due to security concerns.
