An attempted murder case has been filed with Paltan police station in the capital over the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a hopeful independent candidate from Dhaka-8.
The matter was confirmed on Monday morning by Paltan police station Duty Officer Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rakibul Hasan.
The case is being investigated by Paltan police station Inspector (Operations) Yasin Mia.
However, he declined to provide further details.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have so far arrested six suspects in connection with the incident.
Those arrested include the owner of the motorcycle used in the shooting, two members of a human trafficking gang operating across the border, and the wife and brother-in-law of the accused Faisal, along with another woman.
On December 12, after Jummah prayers, two men arrived on a motorcycle on Box Culvert Road in Bijoynagar. One of them shot Osman Hadi in the head while he was in a moving rickshaw.
He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition and later shifted to Evercare Hospital.
Hadi is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of the hospital, where doctors have described his condition as critical.
It was decided on Sunday night that he will be flown to Singapore by air ambulance on Monday afternoon for advanced medical treatment.
