One more dengue patient died in hospital in the past 24 hours till 8:00am on Sunday while 329 others were hospitalised with the viral fever across the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services also reported 13 new cases of Covid-19 across the country in a day.
The deceased dengue patient was a woman aged between 26 and 30 years, who was undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, according to the DGHS.
With this, a total of 42 people died of dengue this year and 9,867 others were hospitalised with the disease.
Of the hospitalised patients, 5,522 were hospitalised in 29 days of June while 19 died of dengue in the same period.
In January, 1,161 people were hospitalised with the viral fever, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May.
Ten people died of dengue in January, three in February, seven in April and three in May.
Including the latest Covid cases, this year 548 people were infected with coronavirus while 22 people died.
Bangladesh first detected Covid infection in the country on March 8, 2020.
So far, 29,521 people have died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh, according to the official account, and the cumulative number of Covid patients has reached 20,52,093.
On the other hand, dengue outbreak was first officially reported in the country in 2000 when 93 people died and 5,551 patients were hospitalised, according to DGHS data. Dengue killed 1,705 people and sent 3,21,179 others to hospitals in 2023 against 853 deaths and 2,44,246 hospitalisations between 2000 and 2022, the DGHS data showed.
Past year, the country witnessed a severe dengue outbreak that resulted in 575 deaths and 1,01,214 reported cases. A total of 1,00,040 patients recovered in the period.
