Bangladesh national football team slipped to 189th position from 188th in the latest FIFA men’s rankings updated on Thursday.

Among the other south Asian nations, India also slipped to 107th from 105th place while Maldives (158), Nepal (168), Bhutan (187), FIFA-banned Pakistan (198) and Sri Lanka (205) maintained their respective previous places.

England leapfrogged cross-Channel rivals France into third place.

Belgium and Brazil retained first and second spots respectively, while England made their first appearance on the podium in nine years on the back of two wins and a draw in recent 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

France paid the price for two draws and a win to go fourth.

European champions Italy and Copa America winners Argentina sit in fifth and sixth places.
