A Bangkok-bound flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines returned to Dhaka this afternoon after experiencing cabin pressure issues mid-air.
The flight (BG-388), operating on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, returned from Myanmar's airspace after departing from Dhaka at noon, according to sources at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
About an hour into the journey, while flying over Myanmar, the cabin pressure suddenly dropped, leading to a noticeable oxygen shortage inside the plane. As a result, the overhead oxygen masks automatically deployed for passengers.
At that time, the aircraft was cruising at an altitude of 25,000 feet, causing panic among passengers.
Considering the situation, the pilot descended the aircraft to 10,000 feet and decided to return to Dhaka. The flight landed safely at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:00pm.
After landing, all passengers were taken to the terminal, and the passengers were put on another flight to Bangkok.
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam confirmed that "the flight made an emergency landing in Dhaka".
However, Biman has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
