A Bangladesh national was shot to death allegedly by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Dharmagar border in Thakurgaon early today.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam alias Raju, 21, son of Badsha Mia of Shahanabadh village in Ranisankail upazila of the district, our Thakurgaon correspondent reports quoting a Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) official.

According to the BGB men, Raju along with a group of cattle traders entered the Indian territory, crossing the Dharmagar border around 4:00am.

Sensing presence of the cattle traders, BSF-171 battalion members of Sirpur camp opened fire at them, leaving Raju dead on the spot, said Lt Col Tuhin Mohammad Masud, commanding officer of Thakurgaon camp of BGB battalion-50.

The BGB asked the BSF troops to send the victim’s body back, Lt Col Tuhin said.
