The Embassy of Japan hosted a special exhibition titled Multi Layered Legicies featuring internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi artist Firoz Mahmud.

The showcase, held from November 26 to December 1, highlighted key works from the New York–based multidisciplinary artist.

Japan Ambassador Saida Shinichi attended as chief guest, while the event was organized in collaboration with Paper Rhyme Advertising Limited, marking its 20th anniversary.

Firoz Mahmud, whose practice spans painting, installation and mixed media, has exhibited at major international platforms including the Bangkok Art Biennale, Sharjah Biennale, Dhaka Art Summit, Aichi Triennial and the Cairo Biennale.

His honors include awards from the Asian Art Council (NY), Queens Council on the Arts, and distinctions from Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art.

Trained at the University of Dhaka, Tama Art University and Tokyo University of the Arts (PhD), Firoz later joined the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and worked closely with celebrated Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

Paper Rhyme Advertising, which has collaborated with Firoz for two decades, presented archival and new works as part of the showcase.

The exhibition further strengthened Bangladesh–Japan cultural ties by highlighting the international achievements of one of Bangladesh’s leading contemporary artists.
