Mohan Bhagwat, chief of Indian radical Hindu party Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Sunday said Hinduism was the only religion that accepted truth.

The RSS chief made the comment while addressing a rally at the Swami Vivekananda ground in Agartala, Tripura. Bhagwat has been on a campaign to promote RSS and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Indian state since December 15, ahead of the legislative assembly polls slated for early next year.

“Hinduism is the only religious concept which accepts the truth, while other beliefs are based on power instead of truthfulness,” Bhagwat said.

He added that there is much evidence in history of how the people of India suffer whenever “Hindutva,” the concept of Hindu nationalism, weakens.

“The geographical map of India was very different before August 15, 1947. Its area used to stretch from Afghanistan to Myanmar, but this was divided once Hindutva was debilitated,” said the RSS chief.

Bhagwat further said that India is a religious state of which every citizen should be proud, as the country shows respect to all people regardless of class or religion.

RSS is BJP’s paramilitary volunteer parent organization, and is widely known for promoting Hindu Nationalism.
