Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has said Awami League is has led all the successful movements in Bangladesh.

He made the statement during a meeting with an Awami League delegation on Wednesday.

The chief election commissioner said: “Awami League led all the historical movements in Bangladesh.

“Even election commission had enjoyed full independence during Awami League period.”

The 21-member delegation from the Awami League has sat in a meeting with the Election Commission (EC) to submit an 11-point proposal regarding the next national election.

The dialogue began around 11am.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader is leading the delegation.

The other members of the delegation are Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Begum Matia Chowdhury, Mohammad Nasim, HT Imam, Dr Md Abdur Razzak, Lt Col (retd) Muhammad Faruq Khan, Ramesh Chandra Sen, Dr Moshiur Rahman, Ambassador Zamir, Md Rashidul Alam, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dr Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Abdur Rahman , Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, HN Ashiqur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud and Riazul Kabir Kawser.

However, Awami League leader Syed Ashraful Islam has skipped the meeting.
