Aly Zaker has contributed greatly to the arena of performing arts. His son, Iresh Zaker, is also renowned actor, recently garnering praise for his performance in productions like "Boli" and "Gunin". Marking Father's Day, Iresh shares fond memories of his father Aly Zaker with The Daily Star.

"Having a father is like being blessed with the shade provided by a banyan tree on a warm sunny day. I feel the absence of my protector every single day. I dont think my words will suffice when I intend to express my love for my father, Aly Zaker.

My name was given to me by my father. 'Iresh' is not a word commonly found in Bengali dictionaries. It's an English name that he had picked up for me. My father was a profound researcher and loved reading. I think he had preserved this name for me with a lot of affection.

I have a lot in common with my father. We share the same birthday and this coincidence has given us a lot of memories to relish upon. We always celebrated together and the joy was doubled when our family members planned special events for our birthday.

My father loved cricket and so do I. His passion for cricket travelled into me for a very young age – from the days we would sit together to watch matches on TV.

I don't know if I would ever venture out into acting if my father was not there to inspire me to enjoy this line of work. Growing up, I saw him pull off impeccable performances on the screen and with time, I started trying out my luck in acting.

My father loved to take pictures. He would always carry a camera on tours and picnics, or where ever he went. Following his lead, I also started to develop keen interest in photography and started pursuing it as a hobby.

Just before we lost him, my father was sick for a few years. We would often spend time together, watching IPL matches. His sickness made him a little quiet towards the end, so we missed the commentary. But he would be sitting there by my side, and that's what I miss the most today.

My father never compromised on principles. He was my philosopher and at times, did not hesitate to play the role of my teacher when needed. He was a good writer, and now I am trying to follow his passion in writing too.

I will always miss my dad and always love him. The have built a lot of memories together but even that is not enough for a lifetime."
