The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved the ‘Modernisation of Telecommunication Network for Digital Connectivity’ project involving Tk 25.7340 billion to build reliable and modern telecommunication facilities in the country, reports UNB.

The approval came from an ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room with its chairperson and prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said a total of 10 projects were approved involving an estimated cost of Tk 57.834 billion.

“Of the total project cost, Tk 32.9632 bilion will come from the national exchequer, Tk 150 million from the organisation’s own fund while the rest of Tk 24.7208 billion from project assistance,” the minister said.

Of the approved 10 projects, nine are new while one is revised project.
