The Global Ismaili CIVIC Day was celebrated in Bangladesh and around the world on Sunday with themes ‘Eradicating Poverty, Safeguarding the Environment, and Promoting Community Health’.

Volunteers across the globe pledged to offer thousands of hours of voluntary service to strengthen their communities through environmental stewardship, said a press release issued by Ismaili CIVIC Bangladesh.

The Global Ismaili CIVIC Day is a programme under which the Ismaili Muslim community across the world has united around its centuries-old tradition of serving humanity by rendering voluntary service to improve the quality of life of the communities.

To mark this global day in Bangladesh, volunteers from the Ismaili community provided voluntary service in elderly homes on Saturday.

The volunteers also visited a Jaago Foundation School in Banani with a primary focus on ensuring the students’ protection from the on-going dengue epidemic by cleaning the school and surrounding area.

Since its international launch in 2021, volunteers from 33 countries donated more than 4,55,000 hours of services, read the release.
