The NBR chairman said action would be taken against those who did not pay income tax despite having TIN numbers

National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abu Hena Mohammad Rahmatul Mumin has said the month-long Income Tax Service program would not be extended after November 30.

However, he said, any person applying to the commissioner concerned for extension would be considered.

He made the statement in a press conference on Sunday to inform about the National Income Tax Service program.

The NBR chairman lamented that despite the increase in income tax due to the efforts of the National Board of Revenue, the scope has not increased in that proportion.

He said that action would be taken against those who did not pay income tax despite having Taxpayer's Identification Number (TIN) numbers.

Till Thursday, 1,320,825 returns were filed and 2,308 crore tax payments were cleared. Last year, the number of returns filed was 1,257,626 while the tax payments were 2,580 crore, he added.
