Investigations are underway to uncover the exact reason and cause of death

Police have recovered the body of a youth from a house in Haripur Union Parishad (UP) complex in Rajshahi's Paba upazila.

The deceased was identified as Mofazzal Hossain, 30.

UP Chairman Bazle Rezbi Al Hassan Munjil confirmed the incident and said that he saw the body hanging by the window on Sunday morning. 

He added that the probable cause of death is suicide.

Mofazzal got married 10 to 12 days ago in Nalpukur village of Haripur union. Despite being newly married, his wife was reportedly reluctant to continue the marriage and returned home. Mofazzal came to his father-in-law's house to take her back but his wife refused. Eventually it was decided by locals that their marital quarrel would be settled by people from both sides on Sunday, said the UP chairman.

Mofazzal was to stay in a room located inside the UP building in the meantime. However, he was found dead on Sunday morning.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajshahi's Damkura police station Mazharul Islam said Mofazzal's body was hanging from a window with a torn piece of cloth wrapped around his neck.

Police recovered the body after a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inspected the scene.

The OC added that investigations were underway to uncover the exact reason and cause of Mofazzal’s death.
