South African Robbie Frylinck has been excellent in his debut BPL season so far and  BPL fans are getting enamoured by this humble cricketer already.

Frylinck picked up yet another player-of-the-match award today as was relied upon by Chittagong skipper Mushfiqur Rahim to get them home by bowling the Super Over against the Khulna Titans. He was asked whether local cricketers were lagging behind since both teams used foreign players in the Super Over.

He said,” I think the local players are just as good. I was already batting out there and so I was picked to bat,” said  Frylinck who came out to bat with Cameron Delport in the Super Over. He extednded his explanation saying that the batsmen were picked with the situation in mind.

“Junaid’s off-cutter comes in to the left-hander and if you look at our lineup, Delport is the best left-handed batsmen in the team, so he came to bat. It was picked to conditions and not overseas or local.

“Overseas players are coming in with a lot of experience compared to the local guys. So rather put the pressure on the guys that are coming in.

The 34-year-old South African cricketer has a lot of experience and while most expect franchise players to come here and entertain the crowd because of the money, Frylinck has a bigger vision in mind.

“Our job over the next six weeks is to build the local talent. To improve the skills. For the local guys to learn from us. Not just in skills but in terms of thinking of plans. That’s my thought process. It’s not about winning the games but growing what we have got in Bangladesh.

“If I leave Bangladesh after teaching Khaled [Ahmed] or [Abu Jayed] Rahi to bowl yorkers more consistently, or be clearer in their thinking or say Mosaddek to hit the ball cleaner, I would feel I have done my job,” he concluded.
