History awaits the Bangladesh cricket team as they are all set to to take part in the their first ever day-night Test match, at the historical Eden Gardens in the City of Joy, Kolkata against host India Friday.

The much-anticipated game has also been termed as ‘pink-ball Test’ as day-night Tests are played with pink ball in world cricket.

This is the first time a day-night Test will be played in the sub-continent and Kolkata has done well so far in living upto the hype and expectations. 

Festive mood prevails all across Kolkata and part of the Eden Gardens has been ornamented with pink color to celebrate the occasion.

Massive preparations have been taken by Cricket Association of Bengal to mark the occasion.

Sourav Ganguly, often called as the Prince of Kolkata, is now the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, and he observed the last day of preparation at Eden Gardens Thursday.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee will ring the Eden Gardens bell to signal the start of the Test.

Bangladesh’s first ever Test team’s members, who played against India in 2000, have been invited for the Test.

Indian cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Virendar Sehwag, Ganguly, Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar will take part in a talk-show during the session break.  

There will be cultural programs as well with Runa Laila from Bangladesh and Jeet Ganguly from India scheduled to perform in the evening.

Apart from all the festivities, both Bangladesh and India are focusing on cricket as this is the first time both the sides will be playing a pink-ball Test.

Both the captains in their pre-match press conference informed that it will be challenging to bat under lights against the pink ball as it may produce extravagant swing in the evening session. 

Fielding will also be challenging due to the nature of the ball.

This is the first time SG ball will be used for a day-night Test as, in the previous 11 day-night Tests, kookaburra balls were used.

Bangladesh lost the Indore Test within three days as India dominated all the sessions. 

The Tigers batsmen failed to tackle the in-form Indian pace attack as they claimed 14 out of the 20 wickets to fall.

India are likely to play the same XI or may opt for a wrist spinner considering the dew factor in Kolkata.

Bangladesh will surely make alterations as they are likely to bring in Mustafizur Rahman and Al-Amin Hossain in place of Taijul Islam and Ebadat Hossain respectively.

Dew can be an important factor in the game in the evening session and considering that aspect, the game will start from 1pm, local time.
