The docudrama, based on the life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, will be released in Dhaka and Chittagong on Friday

The premiere of “Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale,” a docudrama on the life of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was held at Star Cineplex in Dhaka on Thursday.

Renowned media personalities, members of parliament and ministers attended the film’s premiere show.

Speaking with reporters after the special screening on the premiere show, Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith called the docudrama “amazing” and “timeless.”

“This is a film just about Sheikh Hasina and different aspects of her personal life. A very significant film indeed. I have learnt a lot of new things from it.”

The docudrama is an extensive, five-year-long collaboration between the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) and Applebox Films.

Produced by Radwan Mujib Siddiq and Nasrul Hamid on behalf of the CRI, the film was directed by Applebox Films founder Rezaur Rahman Khan Piplu, with Sadik Ahmed as cinematographer, Navnita Sen as editor, and Debojyoti Mishra as music director.

Sheikh Rehana, Sheikh Hasina’s sister, is the narrator in the film.

Piplu, the director, describes the documentary as “a riveting story of a daughter out of a tragic backdrop; the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

The film will be released in four cinemas on Friday: Star Cineplex, Blockbuster Cinemas, and Modhumita Cinema Hall in Dhaka, and Silver Screen in Chittagong.
