Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday alleged that law enforcement was sparing the Bangladesh Chhatra League men from charges of question paper leaks at the behest of prime minister.

“The law enforcement detained a few leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League for their involvement in question paper leaks at different parts of the country. But they’re shifting their blame to others at the behest of the prime minister and the education minister,” Rizvi told a press briefing at the BNP’s Naya Paltan office.

“Why don’t the prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet members take effective steps to check question paper leaks? Aren’t they ashamed of it?” he said in his reaction to the education minister’s remarks over the incidents.

The education minister, Nurul Islam Nahid, on Sunday held some dishonest teachers responsible for the leaks of question papers.

Voicing deep concern over the leak of question of the annual mathematics exam for Class-II in government and non-government schools in Betagi upazila of Barguna, Rizvi said it is a shameful incident for the entire nation, reports UNB.

“The incumbent government couldn’t give the nation anything, except scandals. The latest one is the leak of a question of Class-II which hit the headlines at international level. It’s very shameful for the entire nation,” said the BNP leader.

BCL leaders have complicity in leaking question papers of SSC, HSC, JSC, PSC, medical college and university admission tests in addition to recruitment tests, he insisted.

Meanwhile, UNB said, the upazila primary education authorities immediately suspended the test in 140 government and non-government schools after it had come to know about the leak through the social media on Saturday night.

The students were scheduled to sit for the exam on Sunday.
