Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Nazir Ahmed approved the bail against a bail bond worth Tk50,000, on Thursday

A Madaripur court has granted bail to BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu in a case accusing him of issuing a death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on a live television program. 

Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Nazir Ahmed approved the bail against a bail bond worth Tk50,000, on Thursday.

According to the case, during a live talk show on September 16, the BNP leader commented that Sheikh Hasina would have to go away like her father, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

On September 29, Awami League’s Madaripur district unit Legal Affairs Secretary Babul Akter filed a case against Shamsuzzaman with the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court.

Another case was filed against the BNP leader, over the same allegation, with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on September 19, by Jubo League leader Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi. 

On October 23, the High Court granted him bail for six weeks in the Dhaka case, on condition that he would have to appear before the court before the bail expired.
