Medical board has approved her departure, says Dr Zahid Hossain
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will depart for London after midnight or tomorrow morning by an air ambulance for advanced treatment, said her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.
He was speaking to reporters at a press briefing in front of Evercare Hospital around 2:45pm today.
Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman, is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh early tomorrow to accompany the party chief to London Bridge Hospital in the UK for advanced treatment.
The announcement was made via a post on BNP's official verified Facebook page at 3:00pm.
It also said that Khaleda Zia will be flown to London via an air ambulance from Qatar.
Earlier in the day, her adviser Enamul Haque Chowdhury said Khaleda will be accompanied by one of her advisers, her daughter-in-law, seven doctors, two Special Security Force members, and an assistant to the BNP acting chairman.
The BNP chief was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23 on the advice of her medical board after being diagnosed with infections affecting her heart and lungs.
The 80-year-old veteran politician is also suffering from pneumonia and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital's Coronary Care Unit.
