BCB president Nazmul Hasan following a meeting with former South Africa cricketer Gary Kirsten Tuesday informed to the media

The BCB is mulling appointing separate coaches for Test matches and limited-overs cricket for the national team. BCB president Nazmul Hasan following a meeting with former South Africa cricketer Gary Kirsten Tuesday informed to the media.

Kirsten was recently appointed as a short-term BCB advisor and is currently on a three-day tour of Dhaka for an internal audit. He will also suggest a head coach for the Tigers. Kirsten was scheduled to leave Tuesday evening.

Kirsten during his visit had separate meetings with cricketers, members of the team management, the BCB directors and a local coach.

"It is good to have separate coaches. We should appoint separate coaches for red- and white-ball cricket. Or we can have a head coach for the national team and have consultants for three different formats," said Nazmul at his corporate office in Dhaka.

"The way the three formats are developing - you cannot have similar mentality for Test or ODI or T20I. He (Kirsten) is scheduled to leave (Tuesday). He is supposed to work once getting back home and take a few more interviews. He has shortlisted some coaches and will also look to add a few more names. He is already in communication with the coaches," the BCB chief added.

Bangladesh have been missing a full-time coach since November last year after Chandika Hathurusingha’s resignation. Nazmul echoed a similar sentiment to that of Kirsten in that a head coach will be appointed before the Tigers travel to the West Indies next month.

"As discussed with him (Kirsten) we are expecting to get a full management setup for the national team ahead of the West Indies tour. The team are scheduled to leave on June 24 or 25. Kirsten is supposed to return to Dhaka before that. We are expecting to start appointing by June 15," Nazmul informed.
