Mominul Haque believes their batsmen need to step up and be patient while facing the in-form Indian pace attack

Stand-in Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque vowed that he and his charges will perform much better, compared to the first Test match, when they face host India in the historic day-night Test at Eden Gardens, starting Friday.

This is the first time Bangladesh will be playing a day-night Test. 

The first Test at Holkar Stadium in Indore ended within three days and Bangladesh could not offer much competition, particularly their batsmen, after batting first. 

Mominul believes their batsmen need to step up and be patient while facing the in-form Indian pace attack.

“I think the most challenging part for the batsman will be playing under the lights. As a batsman we have to focus and concentrate well on every ball,” Mominul said during the pre-match press conference in Kolkata Thursday.

“We always play for win. We will try to improve our performance from the first Test. Batsmen are concentrating on batting well and long enough, and play session by session. Bowlers are also working hard. India have a quality pace bowling attack. As a batsman we have to be patient while tacking them.

“When you are trying to play a game, you can’t always think about the past. We did not play well in the Indore Test. But we have to move on. We have to learn from our mistakes from that game and try to overcome them,” the 28-year old added.  

Bangladesh took part in a practice session in the afternoon at Eden Gardens Thursday as the batsmen were seen batting in the nets for quite a long time.

The match will start from 1pm, local time.
