Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Mirza Abbas left Dhaka for Singapore for medical treatment on Saturday morning.
Abbas along with his wife Afroza Abbas and their two sons left Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines around 8:30am, BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan told UNB.
Sayrul said Abbas had long been suffering from multiple diseases, including stomach problem, and he received treatment in the country at different times. ‘He went to Singapore for treatment as there’s no improvement in his condition.’
BNP health affairs secretary Rafiqul Islam said that Abbas went to Singapore on the advice of doctors as part of regular health check-up since several symptoms appeared in his body.
He said that the BNP leader would receive treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
In May last year, Abbas also received treatment at the same hospital for the stomach problem.
Besides, Rafiqul said Afroza Abbas, the president of BNP’s female wing, Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, will also receive treatment there for various health issues.
Earlier on Thursday last, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum and daughter Mirza Safaruh also went to Singapore.
He has now been undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital for various health complications, including a blockage in the nerve in his neck.
