Government working tirelessly to create opportunities for youths, says the education minister

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Thursday said that there is no alternative to bringing out new ideas and concepts to move the country's higher education forward.

"No country can move forward without new ideas and thus the government is working tirelessly to create opportunities for the youth to let them come up with new ideas aiming to bring positive and visible changes in various fields, including education, agriculture, economy and healthcare," said the minister.

She was addressing the inaugural session of the event “Mujib Centenary Idea Competition 2021” on Wednesday night, organized jointly by the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education.

The minister said that the country's higher education institutions have to play a leading role to bring out new ideas and concepts from the new generation, who will lead the country in future, as this is the only way to move forward.

"The intelligence, creativity and innovative ideas of the youth will enrich the country and show us new ways," said the minister, adding that the young generation needs to be prepared to adopt with the Fourth Industrial Revolution and ensure maximum output of demographic dividend.

Mahbub Hossain, secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, and Convener of the UGC's Mujib Birth Centenary Celebration Committee Dr Md Sajjad Hossain also addressed the event, with UGC Chairman Prof Kazi Shahidullah in the chair.
