They were fined Tk4.90 lakh

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has fined a total of 79 organizations across Bangladesh for selling adulterated foods, cheating in weight and different irregularities.

A total of 37 officials from the district and divisional level offices of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection led the drives on Monday and fined the establishments T4.90 lakh, said a press release.

During the drive in Dhaka’s Hatirjheel area, Muslim Sweets, Working Style, and Swapno Express were fined a total amount of T30,000 for packaging products without mentioning retail price, added the release.

The teams of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection conducted drives at 34 markets across the country and fined 74 business establishments over T4.32 lakh for selling and storing date-expired foods and medicines, packaging products without mentioning retail price, cheating in weight and not maintaining hygiene and safety standards of products.
