A person was shot dead after trespassing into India

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has shot dead a Bangladeshi national along the Dharmagarh border region of Thakurgaon.

The deceased, Raju, 21, hailed from Shahanabad village under Ranisankail upazila.

According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources, Raju attempted to cross the barbed wire border fence, along with several associates, at the Dharmagarh border in the early hours of Friday.

The BSF fatally shot Raju after he trespassed onto Indian soil; as his associates made their escape.

Confirming the matter to the Dhaka tribune, Thakurgaon BGB 50 Commander Lt Col Tuhin Mohammad Masud said: “We will hold a flag meeting to bring the body home. We strongly protest the incident.”
