Faisal Arefin Dipan

Police on Thursday submitted a charge sheet to a Dhaka court in connection with the murder of Jagriti Publication owner Faisal Arefin Dipan.
Detective Branch assistant commissioner Fazlur Rahman, also the investigating officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet against eight suspected members of banned extremist organisation Ansar Al Islam to the court of Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari who later set December 28 for next hearing on charge framing in the case.
Publisher Dipan, son of Dhaka University professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Huq, was hacked to death in his office on the second floor of Aziz Supermarket at Shahbagh in the city on October 31 in 2015.
The eight accused are Moinul Hasan Shamim alias Sifat, 24, Abdus Sabur alias Samad, 23, Khairul Islam alias Jamil, 24, Abu Siddique Sohel alias Sakib, 34, Mozammel Hossain alias Saimon, 25, Sheikh Abdullah alias Jubayer, 27, Sayed Ziaul Hoque, alias Sagar, a dismissed major of Bangladesh army, and Akram Hossain alias Hasib, 28.
Six of the accused are languishing in jail and other accused — Sayed Ziaul Hoque and Akram Hossain — remain absconding since the killing incident.
The investigation officer recommended that names of 11 people should be dropped from the list of the accused as he found no witness against one person, and names and addresses of 10 other people were found wrong.
The people are Arafat Rahman, Salim alias Hadi, Alam, Akash, Tayeb, Joney, Asad, Hasan, Talha, Shariful alias Shibli alias Hadi, and Tarek.

A case was filed with Shahbagh police station in connection with the killing on following day.
Detectives in the charge sheet claimed that Ziaul Hoque ordered the killing and he was the key planner. He also trained Sabur, Khairul and Moinul before the killing.
