A note saying 'I am the main culprit in a rape case' was hanging from the suspect's neck

The bullet-riddled body of a man, accused of masterminding the gang rape of a  Yagi Bangladesh Garments Ltd worker, has been found in Savar.

The deceased, Ripon, 39, was serving as a line chief at the above-mentioned factory. He hailed from Jhenaidah, and worked in Ashulia of Savar.

According to police, locals found Ripon’s body in an empty field in Amin Model Town area on Thursday night. A sign reading: “I am the main culprit in a rape case,” was hanging from Ripon’s neck.

On a tip-off, police arrived at the scene and took the body to Savar model police station.

Confirming the matter, Savar model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Awal said: “Ripon’s body has been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka for autopsy. There was a sign hanging from his neck.

“However, we are yet to figure out who murdered Ripon and left his body in Savar.”

Meanwhile, Ashulia police station OC Zabed Masud said: “The rape victim died a day after the incident. Later, her father filed a case naming Ripon as the prime suspect.”

On January 5, as RMG worker 14-year-old Nazma was returning from her work place, five miscreants including two employees of the factory—Ripon, Rahim, and Ibrahim Khalil Shipon—took the girl forcefully to an isolated area behind the factory.

They gang-raped the girl, leaving her critically injured. Nazma died of her injuries on January 7.
