The quality of T20 cricket is better in the Indian Premier League than anywhere else in the world, with the Bangladesh Premier League coming in seventh among the franchise leagues, according to a study carried out by cricket analytics firm CricViz in May this year.

The study assessed around 4,500 players who have played in various competitions across the globe, how their performances vary from league to league, and also factored in conditions, venues and different match situations.

An average is determined to quantify the standard of T20 cricket per match, player and league.

For instance, if a bowler fares well in the Caribbean Premier League but struggles in the IPL, then by reasoning, the standard of cricket in the IPL is superior to that of the CPL.

Mzansi Super League is a lofty second after only one edition of the tournament, while the CPL is third, followed by the Pakistan Super League in fourth and Big Bash in fifth.

Surprisingly, the quality on display in an international T20 between Full Member Nations is far behind in sixth place.

The T20 Blast and Super Smash placed sixth and eighth respectively among the franchise leagues.
