AT LEAST eight people were injured in a clash between two groups of Islamic University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League on the campus in Kushtia on Wednesday evening.

The injured were al-fiqh and legal studies department’s Shahdin, Badhon, Hasan and Salman – law and land management department’s Oshan, Rana and Uday – public administration department’s Joy – and social welfare department’s Rabbi.

Proctor Professor Paresh Chandra Barman said that on information, he went to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. He said legal action would be taken if he received complaint paper from the injured.

Witnesses said the clash ensued from an altercation between Oshan and Jhinuk near Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall at about 7:00pm. Supporters of the two attacked each other with sharp weapon, leaving at least eight injured on the spot.

The injured were admitted to the university’s central hospital.
